Efteling Fantasy-Themed Amusement Park, Netherlands

When fairy tales are told in the Netherlands, it would be impossible not to mention Efteling Netherlands.

Efteling is a fantasy-themed amusement park and recreation complex in Kaatsheuvel, a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The attractions in the park are based on elements from ancient myths and legends, fairy tales, fables and folklore. Officially opened in May 1952, Efteling has evolved from a nature park with a playground and a fairy tale forest into a full-sized theme park that now caters to both children and adults with its cultural, romantic, and nostalgic themes, in addition to its wide array of amusement rides.

In addition to the amusement park, the Efteling World can boast of;

  • A theatre (Efteling Theater),
  • Two hotels (Efteling Hotel and Efteling Loonsche Land),
  • Two-holiday parks (Efteling Bosrijk and Efteling Loonsche Land) and
  • A golf park (Golfclub Efteling).

History

Efteling is one of the oldest fantasy-themed amusement parks in the world. It was officially opened on 31 May 1952 and has grown from a sports and hiking park into one of the biggest amusement parks in Europe. The plans to build a sports park were created in 1933 the Dutch artist, Anton Pieck helped create the theme park and giving it the romantic feel that sets the Efteling theme park apart from other theme parks. Over the years more attractions have been launched and the park even boasts of an Efteling Hotel and an Efteling Golf Park. One of the reasons why people love this park is that it never stops improving and coming up with new and exciting rides. The newest family attraction is Symbolica, which is a Palace of Fantasy. It’s an enchanting palace where nothing is what it seems. So buy your tickets and take dive into the world of Efteling to find out what this amusement park is all about.
