About ADAM VR in Amsterdam

Located behind the iconic A’DAM Tower and This is Holland, ADAM VR Game & Race Park in Amsterdam Noord (North) is just a short – and free – ferry ride away from  Amsterdam Central Station, The Amsterdam Noord is great destination on its own, and a far cry from the old, industrial area it used to be. Today, it’s a creative and cool hotspot that should be on the list of every visitor – and local in the city.

On select nights, A’DAM VR transforms into a club. With lights, DJs and dancing, it evolves into an after-hours venue that’s as immersive and dynamic as the daytime experience.

What to expect at ADAM VR Game & Race Park

A’DAM VR is situated underground, and the moment you step through the doors after walking down the stairs, you’re welcomed by a space that feels part game studio, part lounge and part futuristic game centre.

Neon lights glow softly along the walls, slick setups of VR pods and high-end racing simulators arouse your curiosity, and there’s a buzz of excitement from players mid-game. And even if you’re never touched a VR headset, you won’t feel out of place. What could well feel like an intimidating environment at other places, here, it is welcoming and relaxed, thanks to the setup and a genuinely helpful and enthusiastic team.

Whether you’re at the game centre in for a birthday, a team-building outing, or just to do something fun, solo or with your friends, things kick off with a quick and friendly briefing. The team will help you figure out what kind of experience fits you best, walk you through the gear, and make sure you’re feeling confident and ready to dive in.

Games at A’DAM VR include:

  • Full-scale VR escape rooms, where you and your teammates are dropped into story-driven missions, solving puzzles, dodging obstacles and racing against the clock.

  • VR shooters, with a choice of different shooter games. These virtual shootouts have you fighting baddies, shooting, slicing and strategising.

  • State-of-the-art racing simulators, where you’ll feel the adrenaline of Formula 1 tracks under their fingertips.

  • Classic VR stations, offering everything from rhythm games and zombie runs to paintball-style shootouts.

Most sessions are booked in timed slots, so you’ll know how long each experience will take and can plan your visit around it. It’s a perfect pre-dinner activity (they close at 20:00 each day) or part of a larger day out in Amsterdam Noord. And if you’re not quite ready to jump in immediately, there’s a cozy bar and lounge where you can chill and watch others play.

Another thing that makes ADAM VR Game & Race Park so cool is that the experience is not only about being the best player, though you’re welcome to bring your competitive spirit and aim for the leaderboards. Rather, it’s about shared moments, laughs and getting totally caught up in something fun and immersive.

What you need to know

Before you step into another reality, here are a few useful things to know.

Tickets & bookings

A’DAM VR offers different types of experiences, and most are priced either per game or per session. You can book individual games, longer group sessions, or even reserve a party or corporate package in advance. Booking online is highly recommended, especially for weekends and during school holidays, as time slots can fill up quickly.

There are generally two main options:

  • Single experiences, which you can book on the spot (depending on availability)

  • VR tokens, which work like credits you can use across various games. You can top them up as you go or buy a bundle to get better value.

Prices vary depending on the type of game or simulator. Escape rooms and premium simulators may be a bit more, especially for group bookings.

Tickets and timing

At A’DAM VR, you can simply walk in and choose the games that catch your eye. Most games work with tokens, which you can buy at the counter when you arrive.

If you’re new to VR or want a great deal, it’s a good idea to book in advance as you get discounts, like with the popular VR Starters Package, which is great for beginners. With this package, you get six tokens for the price of five and enjoy priority access when you arrive.

It’s also good to know that A’DAM VR is a cash-free venue, so payments are by card only. For a more immersive experience, try one of the Free Roaming VR games, which are multiplayer adventures that let you move freely in a large space using full-body tracking. They’re not part of the token system and need to be booked separately, either online or at the venue if there’s space available.

Most games run in timed blocks, from quick 10-minute solo VR challenges to full 45-minute escape room missions or simulator races. When you book, you’ll choose your start time.

It’s a good idea to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to check in, store your stuff in the secure lockers and get comfortable. You can even hang out at the bar for a drink or snack before you start playing.

Special events

If you’re planning something special, like a team outing or a private event, the venue is available for exclusive group bookings too. A’DAM VR has packages for team-building events, birthday parties and private hires, including drinks, snacks and exclusive access to certain areas. You can can reach out to the team for more info.

A’DAM VR Kids’ Parties offer a fun and action-packed experience with exciting VR games and tasty snacks. Kids get to play a mix of crowd-favourite games like Triotech Storm, RevolVR 3.0 and VR Agent. The highlight of the party is the group adventure Ghost Patrol, a kid-friendly, free-roaming VR game where players explore a haunted maze together using full-body tracking. It’s immersive, safe and huge fun for ages 10 and up.

What to wear

There’s no dress code of course, but it’s advisable to wear comfortable clothes you can move around in and flat shoes.

Our experience

I didn’t know what to expect going in – I’m not a “gamer”, and I’m used to life in its real form. However, I walked out grinning. What stood out was not just the tech (which is seriously next-level), but the welcoming vibe, the clever design of the games, and how easy it was to get the hang of things – no expertise required.

ADAM VR Game & Race Parkis more than just a cool thing to do in Amsterdam – it’s a memorable experience that’s equal parts thrill and connection. I could never have imagined that seeing ultra-realistic zombies in front of me, and riding a rollercoaster I would NEVER do in real life would bring so much joy.

This is escapism at its best, and while I’m not yet ready to call myself a pro sharpshooter or F1 driver after so many zombie attacks and car crashes, it doesn’t really matter. Fun was had, and I had a big smile on the ferry back to central Amsterdam. and even messaged a group of friends to arrange a girls’ night out.
