What to expect at the Tulip Experience Amsterdam

Location

The Tulip Experience Amsterdam is located at Delfweg 37, in Noordwijkerhout. This is close to Keukenhof; only 10 minutes by bike or 30 minutes on foot. There are plenty of bike rental options in the area, and we highly recommend walking or biking through it, as there are many flower fields to see!

Flower fields & garden

The Tulip Experience is a former traditional Dutch tulip farm that is now open to visitors. It used to be a flower nursery producing flowers in bulk for domestic markets and exports. It’s a family-owned business that recognised the high demand for photos of flower fields and changed its business model from solely selling flowers to hosting and educating visitors about the flower business in the flower bulb area.

Tulip Museum

Besides the flower fields, the Tulip Experience also features a museum where visitors can learn all about the tulip, its origins, how it made its way to the Netherlands, the production of flowers and more!

When it runs

Tulip Experience Amsterdam opens simultaneously with the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens, meaning they’re open from March 19 to May 10 in 2026. You can visit daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hours closest to opening and closing are usually ideal if you want to take photo’s without other visitors in the picture.

Duration & format

Visitors typically spend between 1 and 2,5 hours. If you book your visit, including a tour of Keukenhof, make sure to confirm the duration with the tour operator. Most tours only allow 60 minutes at the Tulip Experience.

Family friendly

A visit to the Tulip Experience offers fun for the entire family! Kids can enjoy themselves on the swings, in the museum, and in the garden. The toilets are fitted with a changing area for the youngest visitors. Parental supervision is required at all times.

What’s included

Included in your entrance ticket is;

  • Access to the tulip garden, including all photo spots
  • Access to the Tulip Museum
  • Access to the cinema and art exhibitions
  • Tulips to take home from the picking area

Tulip museum

Where did the tulip originate from before being recognised as the national flower of the Netherlands? How are they produced in bulk? What can tulips teach us about economic bubbles? In the Tulip Museum, you will learn the answers to these and many more questions!
