As said before the Keukenhof is only open to public in spring, when the tulips are flowering. The rest of the year the tulip gardens cannot be visited. In 2018 the Keukenhof can be visited from the 22th of March till the 13th of May. Outside of this period, the tulip gardens can’t be visited.

Tickets and prices

Entrance tickets to the tulip gardens of Keukenhof can be acquired from the entrance. But as the queue can be long, we advise booking your tickets online upfront. You can also choose to buy a complete trip including bus ride. This is both cheaper and easier as the bus takes you straight to The Keukenhof. By public transport, the trip will cost you around €18, and you have to switch between train and bus.

What is the best time to visit the Keukenhof tulip gardens?

The best time to visit the Keukenhof is from half April till the first week of May. That is the period that the tulips are the prettiest.

Can I visit the Keukenhof in a wheelchair?

Yes, the park is accessible by wheelchair. There are wheelchairs available at the entrance. Normal wheelchairs are free of charge, for electric wheelchairs there’s a €10 rental fee. For both the electric and regular wheelchairs there’s a €20,- deposit required. If you want to be sure that a wheelchair is available, make sure to make a reservation the day before via +31 (0)252 465 555. In the park there are plenty of toilets for people with disabilities.

Is there a waiting line for the Keukenhof?

Yes, usually there is. The Keukenhof drew over a million visitors in 2016 in only 8 weeks, so you get the picture. Make sure you buy “skip the line tickets” online.

How far are the Keukenhof tulip gardens from Amsterdam?

The Keukenhof is situated in Lisse a town approximately 40 kilometres from Amsterdam.

How much time do I need for the Keukenhof?

You have quite some area to cover if you want to see all that the Keukenhof has to offer. Make sure that you have at least 2,5 hours, you don’t want to be rushing through the parks.  Make sure to buy your tickets online, so you can skip the line.

Is the Keukenhof suitable for children?

Yes. In the Keukenhof you’ll also find playgrounds and a petting zoo specially for the youngest family members.

How many weeks per year is the Keukenhof open to public?

The Keukenhof is open 8 weeks per year. This is in spring from late March till late May, when the tulips are flourishing.

Public transport

If you rather choose to go by public transport (which we don’t recommend as it is more expensive and takes longer than a combiticket) then you have to travel to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and take the bus from there.

I went there with my mother last year, expecting it to be really lame. I have to admit that it was really beautiful!
