The countdown for the 2020 edition of the International Amsterdam Motor Show (IAMS) has already begun. The 2020 edition is expected to take place from Thursday 9 April to Monday 13 April, again this year in the Amsterdam RAI.
The International Amsterdam Motor Show (IAMS) is a spectacular car show with a unique mix of rare supercars, precious classics, and the latest models that money can buy. This year’s International Amsterdam Motor Show (IAMS) is set up to be a dazzling car show in by today’s standards, with the focus on cars that every car enthusiast dreams of. No parade of entry-level models, but many special cars from private collections and new models from importers. The Car Catwalk is also set to return in 2020. On this stage, where cars drive up and down all day, a number of showpieces from the show will be highlighted and provided with expert commentary.
Thursday, April 9 is the preview evening. On that day the doors will open for the press in the afternoon, and from 19.00, the doors will also be thrown open for VIPs and special guests. Many Dutch celebrities and acquaintances from the automotive world will be present there. More than 2500 people are expected that evening.
With almost 60,000 visitors, the first edition of International Amsterdam Motor Show (IAMS) was a huge success. The second edition was followed by more car exhibitions and visitors (almost 66,000). And now there will be the third edition in 2020, again at Easter. There are also some new models from importers on the IAMS 2020. You can expect more than 300 cars on the show floor! There is also a 13,000 m3 Action Hall where there is plenty of racing and driving.

The Amsterdam Motor Show will be opened with festivities on Thursday 9 April with a special IAMS Preview Night. At this premiere evening full of entertainment and champagne, prominent figures from the Dutch car world are present, alongside numerous celebrities, drivers, DJs and eye-catching influencers. F1 Simulator
Have you always wanted to experience what it’s like to race across the world’s most famous circuits? Get in the F1 simulator during the Amsterdam Motor Show and experience it! There will be a large-format F1 simulator where you and your friends can experience what it’s like to drive in an AMG-Mercedes Formula 1 car, over the most famous circuits in the world.

Spread over seven halls, more than 100 exhibitors can be found with the best products and services in the field of lifestyle, watches, tuning, audio and of course cars.
Car catwalk
Last year the Car Catwalk was presented for the first time and was a great success. The audience came in large numbers to watch the most beautiful and special cars drive on and off on stage; from an old Rolls-Royce that still belonged to the Royal family to a Bugatti Chiron, the spectacle is one you should not miss.
Action Arena
On more than 10,000 m2 in the Rai, there will be drifting BMWs and Mustangs, racing Ferraris and Lamborghinis and many more cars in full action. Don’t forget to enjoy all the action.
Fun & Games
If you are crazy about car games then you can show your skills during the Amsterdam Motor Show. There will be SIM races on Formula 1 circuits and a wide range of different car games.
Kids Corner Circuit
A Kids Corner will be set up for the youngest car enthusiasts so they can enjoy themselves. Not only will they marvel at the range of cars, but they can also show what they can do in the mini circuit, the various game pods, racing cars and motorways.
Fast & Furious cars
The Car Catwalk will also showcase a number of showpieces during which some special cars will be highlighted and provided with expert commentary. The Ferrari Monza SP1 and Monza SP2 are expected to be present, as are several cars from the popular Fast & Furious movie series.
Drive a supercar yourself!
In addition to all the beautiful cars on display, the smell of new leather seats, screeching tyres, the sound of new engines and of course the commentaries from experts who know all about cars, you also have the option to crawl behind the wheel of a supercar and actually drive! There is also a professional Formula 1 Simulator present. You don’t want to miss all of that!

The preview evening will take place on Thursday 9 April. The press will already have access to the exhibition floor in the afternoon. The venue will be open from 7 p.m. for VIPs and special guests. The organisation expects more than 2,500 people in the evening.

Is the IAMS the same as the AutoRai?
No, the Autorai’s last edition was in 2015. In 2018, the IAMS was started to fill the gap of the AutoRai. The focus of the IAMS is wider than the AutoRai, because there are also many special cars from private collections, both beautiful classics and fast supercars, and because the IAMS also has a 13,000 m2 action hall with Ferraris and Lamborghinis all on display. racing door.
What are the facilities for the disabled and wheelchair users?
RAI Amsterdam is very accessible for disabled people and wheelchair users. The aisles of the RAI Amsterdam are all flat and spacious. There are lifts and disabled toilets in the building. The regular RAI parking rate also applies to the disabled parking card (GPK).

Are dogs allowed in the car show?
Pets are not allowed in the RAI Amsterdam. Assistance dogs are welcome, but you must first contact [email protected]. Let them know that you will be attending the show with an assistance dog.
What are the parking costs if I come by car?
If you choose to come to the event by car, the parking costs at the RAI Amsterdam are € 4.50 per hour. The regular parking rate is € 4.50 per hour with a maximum of € 26.00 per day. You can also purchase a day ticket in advance for just € 21.00.
Can I also come by public transport?
The RAI has its “own” train/metro station, Station Amsterdam RAI. This station is a stone’s throw from the complex where the show will be taking place and is easily accessible by train from all over the country. Follow the signs for RAI Amsterdam when you leave the station.

What is the approach to the coronavirus?
As with other (infectious) diseases, the RAI Amsterdam and the organisers of the International Amsterdam Motor Show follow the advice and guidelines of RIVM and GGD, the bodies responsible for healthcare in the Netherlands. There is currently no advice issued to cancel events due to the coronavirus. That is why the International Amsterdam Motor Show is going ahead, but there will, of course, be extra precautions with regard to hygiene.
