Hotel De L’Europe – exclusive 5 star luxury in the heart of Amsterdam

13 July, 2023 in Blog by Dani

De L’Europe is Amsterdam’s original luxury hotel: it has been at the vanguard of style and elegance since its doors first opened for business in 1896. Overlooking the iconic Amstel river, the 19th-century neoclassical building is as much a city landmark as the canals it crowns, and the theatres and museums it neighbours.

In anticipation of the De L’Europe’s 125th anniversary, the hotel engaged renowned Amsterdam-based interior studio, nicemakers, in a complete refurbishment of both the ground floor—home to a grand lobby, bookstore, flower shop, champagne lounge, three restaurants, four stately event rooms and a waterfront terrace—and its spectacular collection of suites.

The epitome of opulence, De L’Europe Amsterdam is composed of 48 suites—in fact, there are more suites than rooms in the exceptional five-building property—and each boasts its own unique take on the original Amsterdam luxury for which the hotel has come to be known. The nicemaker’s interior redesign balances contemporary furnishings with old-world luxury, resulting in an unparalleled suite experience that’s best seen in the presidential loft and royal penthouse— the most exclusive of the hotel’s suite collection.

The presidential loft is a historic urban retreat. A unique addition to the hotel’s suite collection, the original features of the suite have been preserved while an impressive floor-to-ceiling bay window floods the 160 square meters suite with natural light and offers an exceptional view of the Amstel River and esteemed National Opera & Ballet. The spacious open plan living allows for room aplenty for entertaining and enjoyment.

The hotel’s crown jewel is undeniably the royal penthouse suite. As the name implies, this suite is truly meant for royalty. Admire the breathtaking Amstel river views and majestic cityscapes from the private terrace when staying in this iconoclastic and sumptuous suite. With 220 square meters, the royal penthouse is the largest suite within De L’Europe offerings and the most spacious suite available in the heart of Amsterdam. Outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, a spacious primary bedroom with a baldaquin king-size bed and five additional bedrooms, a palatial living lounge area, lush dining space and a wrapping private terrace, those staying in the royal penthouse will have ample space for both entertaining and living. Enjoy the added privacy of a powder room and walk-in closet separate from the primary marble bathroom.

As these exceptional suites show, De L’Europe has, and always will be, a home to the lover of the true and beautiful.
